  • Today, Vittoria is a quiet, peaceful hamlet, situated about three miles from Lake Erie, in Charlotteville Township, Norfolk County, in Southern Ontario, Canada, with a population of about 600. Masked by this veneer of tranquility, lies a long and distinguished history of which residents are justifiably proud.

    History

Vittoria, the Former District Capital is in the area settled very late in the 18th century, called Long Point Settlement, Upper Canada.

    Bicentennial

In 1996, Vittoria celebrated its Bicentennial, and a new era of pride and enthusiasm was ushered in. There was so much enthusiasm that a new charitable organization, The Vittoria & District Foundation was formed. The foundation has already done much to enhance the quality of life for residents of the district, and will continue to do so for many years to come.

On October 30, 2000, the work of The Vittoria & District Foundation was recognized by the Foundation for Rural Living who presented The V&DF with the "best in the country" award for "Outstanding Voluntarism". For more information on the Foundation for Rural Living, click on their link.
