For a small club, the Vittoria Lions Club has made many generous donations.

Over the years, the club has made large monetary contributions to Camp Trillium Rainbow Lake, the camp for children with cancer located outside Waterford and most recently to Norfolk General Hospital to assist with the purchase of a CT scan and emergency room construction.

The Vittoria Lions Club started with 36 Charter members in 1953. They Lions presently have 20 hardworking members. They are inviting people wishing to work as members of a team dedicated to worthwhile fundraising activities, to contact one of them about becoming Lions Club member. The fun, good times and camaraderie you will enjoy is a bonus.

Lions heavily support the blind and the deaf, train leader dogs and have special camps for the blind, deaf and ill. The Lions Club owns and helps maintain the Vittoria Scout House and sponsors the Scouts. Locally they have accepted the responsibility to hold work bees to clean up the debris along Highway 24 from Port Ryerse Road to the Fisher's Glen Road.

One of the area's best-kept secrets is the vast number of charitable organizations and groups who regularly benefit from contributions and activities of the Vittoria Lions Club. These include:

The Lions annual budget for local, regional and national charitable donations is approximately $20,000, not including special projects and emergency needs. To fund all of these contributions and activities, the Vittoria Lions Club each year sponsors fundraising activities, including: Bingos, Turkey Raffle, New Years' Eve Celebration, Pork & Beef BBQ or Wing Ding, Chicken BBQ, Vittoria Fathers Day Garage Sale Bacon on a Bun, Brunches and draws.

The club has made many significant contributions to our community in the past. They donated the vacant land where Thompson Memorial Park sports complex was developed. They purchased an old building and converted and renovated it to create the original Lions Community Centre, then later turned over the building to the Township of Delhi and became one of the leading "anchor financiers" of the reconstruction, renovation and expansion project which culminated in the beautiful Vittoria & District Community Centre we all enjoy today.

For 54 years, the Vittoria Lions Club has served the community well. They truly deserve our congratulations, respect and support.
